Personal injury law, also referred to as tort law, involves the injured parties suing another individual or business in civil court in order to recoup losses. The idea behind personal law is that the person or persons injured should be given financial compensation.

It is a type of law that’s geared towards protecting people who have been injured due to someone else’s negligence. The end goal of a personal injury lawsuit is for the injured party to receive compensation for either physical injury or property damage.

For example, if someone is involved in a motor vehicle accident and sustain injury or damage to their vehicle, they too can file a personal injury lawsuit and sue the person who caused the accident.
